Osman Mir is an Indian playback singer who has been singing in Hindi Movies since 2013. Whose songs have been featured mainly in Hindi and Gujarati.
Song "Mor Bani Thanghat Kare" from movie Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela is the first Hindi movie song that Osman Mir Sung in 2013. First Gujarati song sung by Osman Mir is the title song for Movie is "Me to chundadi odhi tara name ni" whose music composer was Advin Vaj Appu.
Osman Mir was born(22 May 1974) in Vayor, Kutch, Gujarat, India in a lower-class family. His father, Husenbhai, was a tabla player at Gujarati folk called Bhajan and Santvani. Osman Mir was interested in music from his childhood. He has passed his high school education, 9th pass from Bhulabhai Mansinh Vidhyalay, Layja and said goodbye to study then eventually he started learning Tabla from his father at very early age and started performing Tabla on live events with his father at the age of 13. He started his career as Tabla player with late Shree Narayan Swami.
Tabla was just starting for Osman Mir, he was interested much in singing, he keeps learning basic lessons of singing from his father and then he officially trained by his Guru Ismail Datar. Once on the auspicious day of Gurupurnima in a musical concert, he went as a tabla player to Pujya Shree Moraribapu’s Ashram at Talgajarda, where Parthivbhai introduced Osman to Bapu praising his vocal ability. His first gift to the audience was "Dil Kash Tera Naksha Hai". From this point of time, his golden journey as a singer begun. His debut concert was arranged in Ahmedabad which is arranged by Pradip Dave, Osman Mir has the ability to perform almost any kind of music, Bhajan, Ghazal, Semi-Classical, Sugam, Gujarati-Folk.
Non-stoppable Osman then spellbound audience through thousands of public performances. He has given playback for nearly 58 Gujarati movies. He has performed across the globe in 25 countries. His singing is influenced as he said, by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Mehndi Hasan, Jagjit Singh and Ghulam Ali Khan. They are his ideas. He hearty wishes to sing for A.R. Rehman’s composition.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali had heard this song some eighteen years back in the voice of Gujarati folk singer late Shree Hemu Gadhavi. and this had become his dream song. Sanjayji had heard Osman on Youtube and he had firmly decided to give this song to Osman Mir. From his production house, they pursued Osman Mir for one and half month. Finally, Aditya Narayan straight away talked to Osman saying, “संजयजी आपको सहीमें याद कर रहे है, आप मुंबई आजाइए”. Then Osman met Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Mumbai. Sanjayji told him, “I don’t want to go for an audition, I have heard you. And only you and you will sing this song. If you don’t, then I will drop my idea for including this song in ‘Ramleela’”. Osman sang this old folk song in his style and his mountainous voice achieved international recognition. This song was recorded spontaneously in only two takes. Sanjayji was flourished and flooded with joy and he gave a big hug to Osman Mir.
Osman Mir is an “Upanishad of Secularism”. He is a trumpet blower of secularism. This born Muslim artist has performed mostly at Hindu temples, at the Ashrams of Hindu Mahamandleshwars and invariably he is an indispensable part of ”Ramcharit Parayan” of Pujya Shree Morari Bapu. As Bapu allots him one night wherever and whenever feasible.
Osman Mir is the son of Husenbhai and Sakinabanu. Osman Mir married to Hamida Banu and has three children. Two girls and a boy Amir, Amir is learning singing lessons from his father and made a mind to go in the same field.
